HOT-ROLLED STEEL

THE MATERIAL

The high mechanical resistance values of corten steel allow for small sections and therefore with a lower visual impact and higher indoor brightness while, at the same time, making it possible to realise large and heavy doors and windows with excellent performance. Corten steel is a high-resistance self-passivating alloy containing copper, chrome and phosphorus, characterised by a high resistance to corrosion and to tensile yield; these alloys are self-protective through the formation of a superficial coating that prevents the progressive extending of the corrosion process. Brombal, thank to their innovative and technological vocation, was the first one to use this material for doors and windows, producing profiles with physical and aesthetic features particularly appreciated in the architectural world.

TRASFORMATION PROCESS

The large rolls of CorTen steel are cut to the required width and rolled to the specific profile section. Upon exposure to air, the patina process begins which creates a protective layer of rust over the surface. Left untreated, the rust will create an ever changing appearance. A surface wax treatment can be applied which will stop the continued rusting and will provide a protective barrier against the elements

ADVANTAGES

  • Thermally broken.
  • Only manufacturer to offer a window and door system utilizing CorTen.
  • 100% recycled material.
  • Durable and resistant to environmental elements.
  • Perfect choice for highly corrosive environments.
  • Unique finish not replicated by any other material

FINISH

CorTen steel has a unique distinctive appearance. The intense richness of its finish bestows a warm, natural, yet at the same time extremely elegant look. Its attractive appearance is a result of an oxidation process which forms a protective patina that remains unchanged over the years. A hand applied wax treatment can be administered to achieve a smooth look

SE W20 SWISS STEEL

The SE W20 windows and doors range offers great versatility. No other steel window system offers such an extensive range of sections, allowing the designer the opportunity to create many styles including elaborate composite windows.

An effective weather-stripping system, and the option of double glazing up to .55 inches when gasket glazed, and .63 inches wet glazed ensures excellent thermal insulation properties, while the system’s large opening casements and slim frame make it particularly popular with conservationists and planners.
